ASSA ABLOY Integrates Aperio Wireless Technology With Rhombus

Enabling organizations to extend secure, scalable access control through the power of Aperio and Rhombus.

ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions has integrated its Aperio® wireless lock technology with access control from Rhombus, enabling organizations to extend secure, scalable access control through a unified, cloud-managed physical security platform.

The integration allows customers to deploy secure access control in locations where traditional wired systems are impractical, while maintaining centralized visibility and management across doors, cameras, sensors, and alarms.

Expanding Cloud-Managed Access Control
Rhombus is an open, cloud-native physical security platform that unifies video surveillance, access control, sensors, alarm monitoring, and software integrations into a single pane of glass. By integrating Aperio wireless locks, organizations can now bring doors and openings into the Rhombus ecosystem without the cost and complexity of wired infrastructure.

“Pairing ASSA ABLOY’s industry-leading Aperio wireless locks with the Rhombus cloud platform gives a flexible, scalable, and truly unified approach to security,”

said Brandon Salzberg, Chief Technology Officer at Rhombus.

This approach enables organizations across education, healthcare, manufacturing, and enterprise environments to manage physical security entirely through the cloud, without on-premises servers or complex deployments.

How the Aperio Integration Works
The Aperio platform connects wireless locks to an access control system using IEEE 802.15.4 communication between the lock and an Aperio hub. This architecture delivers real-time communication while significantly simplifying installation and lowering deployment costs.

Aperio supports a broad range of locking hardware from ASSA ABLOY Group brands, making it adaptable to diverse facility requirements and retrofit scenarios.

A Unified Physical Security Ecosystem
Rhombus access control integrates seamlessly with Rhombus cameras, sensors, and alarms to create a comprehensive security ecosystem. Through Rhombus Console, organizations gain a centralized, cloud-based interface for managing doors, video, users, devices, and locations at virtually unlimited scale.

The result is improved situational awareness, faster investigations, and greater operational efficiency across distributed environments.

“Through this integration, customers can experience the flexibility of Aperio locks alongside the simplicity and scalability of the Rhombus platform,” said Angelo Faenza, Head of Access Control Solutions at ASSA ABLOY.

“It removes the barriers of traditional access control and enables smarter, more connected facilities.”
